This is really excellent - a contribution that is priceless!
When I was in Fla last week, Mom and I reviewed these photos and she enjoyed them immensely. She kept saying "that's an amazing machine" - meaning Rob's laptop that we were viewing the scrapbook from. Her best and most intact memories seem to be of the Pines Lake days and her dog, Skippy.
She proudly and laughingly said "Skippy was my personal dog - he was usually begging, which got both of us on Nana's black list most days"
Even Rob, who is not a family photo guy, seemed to enjoy the album.
Keep up the good work, CJ, and let me know if I can be of any help!
Ya know, I lived in the house on Leeland for the 1st 14 years of my existence and never had a clue about it's humble beginnings. Pretty cool. And I remember being disappointed many many years ago when logging on to Ancestry.com and not being able to access anything about anyone.(maybe this scrapbook can be uploaded for the benefit of Earth?) Not that I'm a big fan of "legacy" or philosophical concerns of "why we're here" or any of that BS, but this project is cool because at least, when we're all done here, there'll be more than just a name and some numbers on a piece of rock somewhere. Thanks for putting in the effort. Oh yeah, and those Christmas cookies were pretty damn tasty too, so thanks for those as well......
George and I retired from middle-school teaching so we could travel at times other than school vacations. We're loving it! Mostly our destinations are paragliding sites around the country and the world, but occasionally we do take off just for the sheer pleasure of going someplace new. I'm trying to put our adventures online in digital scrapbook form (retirement goal #2: Learn to use Photoshop). Recently I volunteered to be our family archivist, and am sorting through a bazillion jumbled, undated family photos, trying to create a coherent story of Mom's life while she's still around to enjoy and comment on the scrapbook pages as I finish them.
Kudos. This is some amazingly good stuff. Keep building on it. Still decades to go before my era of recollection.....
