Oregon in October

Hey, it's the beginning of November and amazingly enough, I've finished my scrapbook of our late-October vacation in Bend, Oregon. Actually, it was a working vacation, the work part being our participation on the Awards committee of the US Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association at their fall BOD meeting. The vacation part came about because we had a timeshare week that we needed to "use or lose" before the end of this year, so we booked a week at Eagle Crest Resort in Redmond that overlapped with the BOD meeting.

We so lucked out on the weather! When we left North Bend on Sunday, kayak on the roof and hiking and paragliding gear stuffed in the back, it was raining (still...) and rather unpleasantly chilly. Once we crossed the Cascades, though, we were in beautiful fall sunshine, which lasted right through till the meetings started on Friday. What timing! The rain returned on Saturday, and we left in a deluge on Sunday. We heard from our Bend kayaking buddies that the rain turned to snow on Monday; the roads to the lakes and trailheads we'd paddled and hiked just a few days earlier are now closed for the season.

So, here's the scrapbook "journal" of this weeklong adventure. Weirdly enough, neither George nor I took any photos during the board meeting. I guess that's a pretty clear indication of our priorities!
